Ambience at Shri Koupineshwar Temple

The priests (Guravs) perform daily rituals in the Shri Koupineshwar temple. At 4:00 a.m., each morning, the Panchamrit pooja for Shri Koupineshwar Maharaj is performed. The temple is opened to all it's devotees at 6:00 a.m. The Devotees are allowed to perform "Abhishekh" in the first half of the day. The temple is closed for maintenance and cleaning between 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The temple is once again opened to all it's devotees from 3:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m.

All the other temples in the precincts are also opened to the devotees at 6:00 a.m. and get closed for maintenance and cleaning between 12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. They are once again opened to all it's devotees from 3:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m. Similarly, daily rituals are performed in all the other temples in the complex and "Naivedya" and "Prasada" are offered along with the daily prayers

The temple is a huge source of strength for the citizens of Thane city and its surroundings are always filled with devotees of Lord Shiva. Sweet notes of the Shehnai and rhythm of the Traditional Indian Drum known as the Chaughada can be heard at the break of dawn as well as at the time of the evening prayers. Everyday hundreds of devotees are present during the evening Aarti/Puja, which is performed by the Temple priest at 8.00p.m. The atmosphere in the temple, is one of purity and positivity, as a result of the chanting of Mantras on a regular basis. Religious sermons in the forms of Kirtans and Pravachans which are organized everyday also add to the sense of peace and calm in the temple precincts. This tradition of organizing Kirtans and Pravachans, throughout the year, ensures that both the young and the old alike, can understand the ancient wisdom contained in our sacred texts, which are explained in a simplified manner, enabling all those present to appreciate, the nuances and the true essence of our great religion and imbibe it in their daily lives.

Mondays in general, and especially in the Holy month of Shravan, as per the Hindu calendar, brings about a huge rise in the number of devotees who visit the temple. Similarly, on the sacred day of Mahashivratri, about two to three Lakhs devotees visit the temple each year, to seek the blessings of lord, Shri Koupineshwar.
